Privacy policy
Wristop: Dublin bus times, for Wear OS. Last updated 24 October 2026.
In short: Wristop has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. Your favourite stops stay on your watch, and the server that fetches bus times doesn't keep any record of who asked.
What stays on your watch
Your favourite stops, their nicknames and the most recent departure times are stored only on your watch. If Android backup is turned on, your device may include them in your personal Google backup, which is governed by Google's privacy policy, not ours.
What the app sends to our server
To show departures, the app asks the Wristop server for the stop you're looking at, by its stop ID. When you search for a stop, it sends the number or name you typed. Like any app on the internet, each request also carries your IP address and your device's standard software description (for example the Android version). The app sends no name, account, location, advertising ID or other identifier.
What the server does with it
- It answers the request using bus data it has already downloaded from the National Transport Authority (NTA). Nothing about you is passed to the NTA or anyone else.
- To stop any one connection from overloading the service, it counts recent requests from each IP address. That count is held only in memory and is forgotten about two minutes after your last request, or whenever the server restarts.
- It keeps no access logs, so IP addresses and searches are not stored. If a request fails, it logs the stop ID and the error, without your IP address.
The server is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in the European Union.
Our legal basis
Briefly processing your IP address is necessary to deliver the bus times you asked for and to keep the service working for everyone, which is our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.
Children
Wristop is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
Your rights
Because we store no personal data, there is normally nothing for us to access, correct or delete. You can still contact us with any question, and you can complain to the Data Protection Commission.
